Something Feels Off. It Is Worth Checking.
You have someone handling the books. Maybe it is a dedicated bookkeeper. Maybe it is an office manager who inherited accounting somewhere along the way. Transactions get entered and reports get produced, but if you are honest, you are not completely sure the numbers are right.
You look at the Profit and Loss Statement and something feels wrong. You may not know enough accounting to identify the exact issue, but that concern is worth investigating.
Who is watching the bookkeeper? Usually, nobody.
The person maintaining the books may be capable and diligent, but their work is rarely assessed by someone with more senior accounting experience. The Free Financial Health Check gives you that second set of eyes and replaces uncertainty with a written picture of where the accounting stands.

Six Focused Diagnostic Areas
Reconciliation Assessment
We assess the selected month’s bank and credit-card reconciliations for unresolved balances, inconsistencies, duplicate activity, and unusual reconciling items.
Profit and Loss Assessment
We assess the year-to-date Profit and Loss Statement for unusual trends, inconsistent classifications, and items that may require further investigation.
Balance Sheet Assessment
We assess the Balance Sheet as of the selected month-end for unusual, unsupported, outdated, or potentially misclassified balances within the agreed scope.
Month-End Close Assessment
We assess whether the existing close process appears timely, repeatable, documented, and subject to appropriate review.
Transaction Diagnostic
We identify unusual, inconsistent, unsupported, or potentially miscategorized transactions found within the selected records.
Written Report and Controller Debrief
You receive a written findings report describing the concerns identified and recommended next steps, followed by one 30-minute meeting with an Accountable Numbers controller.
You receive a real deliverable
The written report is yours. Give it to your current bookkeeper and ask them to address the findings, or ask Accountable Numbers to quote correction or ongoing accounting work separately. You receive the report whether or not you purchase another service.
Who the Free Health Check Is Built For
The free offer is designed for:
- A U.S. business or nonprofit with someone already maintaining the books.
- One legal entity using QuickBooks Online or another supported cloud accounting platform.
- Up to three bank or credit-card accounts.
- Up to 200 transactions in the selected review month.
- Records that are complete and accessible enough for a meaningful diagnostic.
- An owner or executive available for a brief intake and the 30-minute findings meeting.
The free offer does not include:
- Cleanup, adjusting entries, corrected reconciliations, or implementation of recommendations.
- Inventory accounting or reconstruction.
- Payroll, payroll-tax, or sales-tax work.
- Intercompany, multi-entity, or consolidated accounting.
- Custom reporting, forecasting, budgeting, or financial modeling.
- Forensic accounting, fraud investigation, litigation support, or full source-document verification.
More complex does not mean we cannot help. If your accounting falls outside the free scope, Accountable Numbers may still be able to perform the diagnostic or address the problem under a separate paid scope. We confirm that before requesting access to the books.
What This Is—and What It Isn’t
The Free Financial Health Check is a limited diagnostic assessment. We identify and explain concerns, but your current accounting team remains responsible for entering corrections, completing reconciliations, changing procedures, and resolving the findings.
This is:
- A controller-level diagnostic of selected accounting records and procedures.
- A written list of concerns, deficiencies, and recommendations identified within scope.
- A one-time engagement with defined meeting and follow-up support.
- A report you may use with your current accounting team.
This is not:
- Bookkeeping cleanup or correction work.
- An audit, review, compilation, examination, agreed-upon procedures engagement, or other attest service.
- Tax advice or tax-return preparation.
- A guarantee that the books contain no errors.
- Ongoing controller access or unlimited consulting.
How It Works
Step 1: Book Your Free Financial Health Check
Choose a convenient time for a brief introductory call. We’ll discuss your concerns, confirm basic eligibility, and determine whether the free diagnostic is a good fit for your organization.
Step 2: Confirm Eligibility and Confidentiality
We confirm that your organization fits the free diagnostic scope and complete an NDA or confidentiality agreement before requesting access to financial records.
Step 3: Provide Access and Records
You provide secure access to your bookkeeping system, the selected month’s bank and credit card statements and reconciliation reports, year-to-date financial statements, and any available month-end checklist.
Step 4: Controller Diagnostic
Our team assesses the agreed records and process. Delivery is typically within 30 calendar days after complete access and all requested records are received.
Step 5: Receive the Report and Debrief
You receive the written findings report and meet with an Accountable Numbers controller for a 30-minute meeting to discuss the findings and recommended next steps.
Good News Either Way.
If the selected records and process appear consistent, that is genuinely good news. You gain documented reassurance that the specific areas examined did not reveal material concerns within the limited scope.
If we identify problems, you gain a clear written plan for what should be addressed. Your current bookkeeper can handle the corrections, or Accountable Numbers can separately discuss cleanup or ongoing back-office accounting support.
No obligation to hire us
The findings report is provided whether or not you purchase another service. Any correction, implementation, cleanup, or ongoing accounting work requires a separate written scope and your approval.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Financial Health Check really free?
Yes, for eligible businesses accepted into the offer. There is no fee, no credit card is required, and there is no obligation to hire Accountable Numbers afterward. Capacity is limited. Anything outside the scope of the free Financial Health Check will be communicated upfront, and you can decide whether you’d like to pursue it separately.
Is this an audit?
No. It is not an audit, review, compilation, examination, agreed-upon procedures engagement, or other attest service. It is a controller-level diagnostic based on selected records and information supplied by the business.
Will you correct the problems you find?
Not as part of the free offer. We identify concerns and recommend what should happen next. Your existing bookkeeper may make the corrections, or Accountable Numbers may quote correction work separately.
What period will you assess?
The diagnostic focuses on one recently completed month selected during onboarding, together with the year-to-date Profit and Loss Statement and the Balance Sheet as of that month-end.
How long does it take?
Delivery is typically within 30 calendar days after complete access and all requested records are received. Missing information, access problems, unusual complexity, or client delays may extend that timing.
What happens if everything looks fine?
The report will state that we did not identify material concerns within the limited scope examined. That is not audit assurance, but it provides a documented second opinion regarding the areas assessed.
Will you try to sell me ongoing services?
We may explain available options when the report identifies work that needs attention, but there is no obligation to hire Accountable Numbers. You receive the report and may use it with your current accounting team.
How is my financial information protected?
We complete a confidentiality agreement before accessing the books, use controlled access and document-sharing processes, and limit access to personnel assigned to the diagnostic. Specific access procedures are explained during onboarding.
Stop Guessing Whether the Books Are Right
Your financial statements should help you make decisions, not create more uncertainty. If something about the books does not feel right, do not ignore it.
